With its central London location, The Hub makes the perfect home from home for both international and UK students looking to study in Vauxhall. With Vauxhall tube and mainline railway station just a 2-minute walk away, all central London universities are within easy reach.

But you’re probably wondering which universities are most popular with students currently living with Host at The Hub?

Over the last two academic years, our students have studied at over 20 different colleges and universities in central London. Which is a bit of an overload for a blog. So, here’s a quick guide to the two most popular universities with our students and where they’re located in relation to living with us at The Hub.


University of the Arts London

Almost half the students living at The Hub in Vauxhall study at one of UAL’s six colleges. UAL is formed of six different colleges all dedicated to the study of fashion, art, design and the performing arts.

The six colleges are all within 30 minutes of The Hub meaning you’re never far from campus or your student home and studying in Vauxhall:

  • Camberwell College of Arts – 25min walk & bus ride on the number 36.
  • Central Saint Martins – 25min walk & tube ride on the Victoria Line to King’s Cross St Pancras.
  • Chelsea College of Arts – 13min walk across Vauxhall Bridge.
  • London College of Communication – 18min walk & bus ride on the number 196.
  • London College of Fashion – 12min walk & tube ride on the Victoria line to Oxford Circus.
  • Wimbledon College of Arts – 30min walk & train ride via South Western Railway to Wimbledon railway station.

In 2020 UAL was ranked second in the world for Art and Design courses in the QS World University Rankings. And with over 100 courses to choose from if you’re considering a career in art, design, screen, communication, fashion, media or even the performing arts UAL is right up your street.

King’s College London

King's college london; The Strand Campus

King’s College London is one of the top 25 universities in the world. Dating back to 1829 the university is now home to over 32,000 students. Across four central London campuses.

The University is centred on its original and main campus on The Strand and has been since 1831. Today this campus is home to the art and sciences faculty as well as the Business School. The Strand campus is a 20min walk and tube ride away from The Hub.

If you’re studying at the uni’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience. You’ll be studying at the Denmark Hill campus which is a 23min walk & bus ride on the 185 from Vauxhall.

Health subjects are based at Guy’s Campus a 23min walk and tube ride away from The Hub. The campus is right next door to Guy’s Hospital, so placements are also easy to get to.

The final campus for King’s College is the Waterloo Campus which is home to everything from Nursing and Dentistry to Law. The Waterloo campus is a 15min tube ride from The Hub.

Did you know: King’s College is the fourth oldest university in England.

Open days? –  King’s College has a series of campus tours with current students, that they have filmed to help you get a feel for studying at King’s College University. There are also a series of online events where you can chat to students and staff as well as full information students for those applying to King’s College.
